MAY 23, 2026 | HOUSTON, TEXAS
We've both been lucky to call Houston home at one point or another. If you're looking for ideas during your visit, here are a few of the places we love most in the Bayou City.
IF YOU WANT TO GET SOME STEPS IN
Memorial Park Trail
1001 E Memorial Loop
A bustling, centrally located trail that’s perfect for people-watching and getting in some exercise.
Memorial Park Driving Range
Inside Memorial Park
1001 E Memorial Loop
A convenient public range just off the trail; great for sneaking in a quick bucket.
Rice University Trail
6100 Main Street
Stroll through Zach’s business-school stomping grounds (and his frequent running route) and enjoy one of the most beautiful loops in Houston.
IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR CULTURE
Houston Museum of Natural Science
5555 Hermann Park Drive
Hang with the dinosaurs and explore a variety of interactive exhibits.
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
1001 Bissonnet Street
A world-class museum with an impressive and diverse collection. We almost had our wedding here!
The Guild Shop
2009 Dunlavy Street
Does this count as culture? Callie wouldn't be her mother's daughter if she didn't list the mecca of all thrift shops on her guide to Houston. Past scores include fine china, estate jewelry, funky trinkets, and other treasures.
IF YOU WANT TO KICK BACK
Kirby Ice House (Upper Kirby)
3333 Eastside Street
Our go-to spot for watching a game or meeting up with friends.
The Marigold Club
2531 Kuester Street
Full disclosure-we've never been here, but it's no. 1 on Callie's Houston bucket list. If you're looking for a cutesy cocktail, check it out and let us know what you think!
Saint Arnold Brewing Company
2000 Lyons Avenue
Our favorite brewery in the city, with great beer and even better views of downtown.
IF YOU'RE HUNGRY
BREAKFAST
Avalon Diner
2417 Westheimer Road
A retro Houston institution with great comfort food.
Goode Co. Hamburgers and Taqueria
4902 Kirby Drive
Classic Tex-Mex breakfast tacos done right.
Pondicherry Bake Lab + Shop
2800 Kirby Drive
If you're looking for something a little different, this spot serves the best Indian food and pastries for breakfast.
LUNCH AND DINNER
The Original Ninfa's on Navigation
2704 Navigation Boulevard
Some of the best Tex-Mex in town and a Meyers family favorite. Russell and Kimberly have enjoyed the same waitress since high school!
Luling City Market
4726 Richmond Avenue
Not as well-known, but a Phillips family favorite for nearly 30 years.
Pinkerton’s Barbecue
3801 Farnham Street
A beloved Houston staple.
Tiny's No. 5
3636 Rice Boulevard
Our favorite spot for cocktails, a great burger, or an admittedly overpriced (but delicious) salad. Famous for their warm chocolate chip cookies.
Vibrant
7575 N Picnic Lane, Building B
A healthy(ish) café inside Memorial Park—perfect for a post-walk coffee or matcha.
